Even though we are almost just halfway into 2022, we still have a lot of content to catch up on. It seems the list of “To be watched” shows keeps increasing. There isn’t enough time to finish all the trending content. So let’s make it easy. We will tell you which shows are the best of the best that were aired in 2022, and you only have to watch those five. Deal?
Upload
We have all been waiting for the 2nd season of Upload as it is one of the best sci-fi series on Amazon Prime. There’s some comedy, romance, thriller, mystery, a story about wealth disparity, friendships, etc. It is a light show you can watch at night to wind down after work or binge-watch when you need to escape reality for a while.
Under The Banner Of Heaven
The show is based in part on the book of the same name, written by Krakauer, that follows the story of what happens after the demented murders of Brenda and Erica Lafferty. Andrew Garfield is the main character who is a Mormon detective named Jeb Pyre who is assigned this case. He begins to investigate and takes us with him to explore many concepts like religious crimes, extremism, and tests of faith. Although the mystery seemed straightforward in the beginning, there are several layers of interesting details that we get to uncover as the story progresses. Andrew Garfield keeps us engaged and on the edge of the seat from start to finish.
Abbott Elementary
The new ABC sitcom is a fresh Office-style mockumentary comedy that shows the life of a struggling Philadelphia school. Quinta Brunson is the creator and the star, and she manages to give a refreshing take on the life of a teacher. Brunson is a dedicated teacher who tends to be a people-pleaser, making her interactions with her colleagues exciting and funny. The show is simple, yet it is one of the most hilarious, feel-good shows in years.
Barry
It is time to catch up on the first two seasons of Barry so that you can start watching the third season. After airing just one episode, we are sucked back into the world following Gene’s revelation that Barry is responsible for the death of Detective Janice Moss. You are immediately thrown into action. Gene and Barry are together in the most precarious of ways. This season somehow feels more charged than the first two. Is it because we have been waiting forever for this season to come out? Sally is also trying to be a girl boss, and you can see her mania as both hysterical and tragic, just like the series. Despite so many plotlines, the series still finds the time for sight gags and fun amid all the sorrow.
The Dropout
If you are into shows about cons and scams, then this is the one you should watch first. It is much better than the recently released shows in the same vein as Inventing Anna and WeCrashed. This show is run by the “New Girl” creator, Elizabeth Meriwether, who has managed to get this show to rank on top on Hulu. The story is about Elizabeth Holmes, who girl-bossed her way to fame and wealth without confirming if her innovation worked. If you are already aware of the true story of Holmes’ decline, then there’s not much for you to know in the show, but there are some fantastic performances from all the characters that make the show worth watching anyway. In addition, you will also get to und how a single-minded go-getter can dupe herself into believing in a self-driven vision that was always too good to be true.
