During 1995, the glamorous pair tied the knot, despite Steenburgen having publicly admitted that she was done with love. One incredibly significant production experience during Pontiac Moon was life-changing for Steenburgen, however, where she played Ted’s character’s spouse. There was one incredible scene involving a canoe that would turn the tide for Steenburgen’s attitude to romance. Just what they experienced together, we will never truly know the extent of the significance.

The two were paddling out into a river when they suddenly realized that they were completely synchronized. They had embarked as buddies, but some phenomenal connection had fostered between them while canoeing, and they returned as lovers. It is incredible how in your most hopeless moments, that one special person comes along and changes everything for the better. That was what Ted did for his soon-to-be wife, and we would love to have experienced such an incredible moment.
