Slow Burn
Like many actors in this world, Ted’s acting ambitions took some time to take off. His first area of dramatic expertise was within soaps. He enjoyed tiny roles in The Doctors and Somerset. You might even remember him for being the “Aramis Man” in a certain cologne advert. From there on, he began making various guest appearances in a variety of successful television shows of the time. Things were going slowly but steadily for the actor.
Cheers To That
Finally, in 1982, Ted was given the chance that he deserved to truly shine as he was accepted into the iconic sitcom, Cheers, as Sam Malone, a hunky bartender. His contribution and presence partly led to its enormous success and popularity, and he quickly turned into a household name. He was also destined for award glory, as he received four leading awards – two Emmys and two Golden Globes for his successes in Cheers.
