Mary was raised in Newport, Arkansas, the city that is debated as being Walmart’s founding city, where Sam Walton, its creator, enjoyed his initial and successful foundation within the retail business.

The blossoming starlet was bound for greatness when she bumped into Jack Nicholson while attending the New York headquarters of Paramount. Jack was so taken with Mary during their conversation that he decided to slot her into his directorial 1978 masterpiece, Goin’ South, which would be an excellent decision. The following year, Mary starred as the main actress in Time After Time, a production that introduced her to costar and soon-to-be husband, Malcolm McDowell.
