Premature Relationship
Surprisingly, looking back on this impromptu romance, Ted admitted that this was a relationship that he was not prepared for. The man was, understandably, in a chaotic state of mind, not at all ready to even consider dating someone. This was a time where he was trying to untangle the mess of his failed marriage. Thankfully, Ted eventually went for therapy, where he was able to begin the healing process. That, and the compassion and understanding that he received from Mary.

Danson was struggling at the time with a world of anxiety, and Mary brought him a kind of peace that he could never have hoped for. In a telling interview with AARP The Magazine, Ted quickly became overly dependent on Mary’s comforting presence and would begin to panic when she was not by his side. He did manage to convert this fear into gratefulness, however, as he would translate his possessiveness into thankfulness for having such an incredible partner.
